I am sharing a collection of before and after photographs with you. I am not sharing it to get down on the rescues and I know they do the best they can. I am sharing it in hopes that you will think twice before overlooking an animals because of the way it looks in a photo. You and I both know it is much easier to see a great photo of a dog or cat and be able to picture it in our home. I hope this helps you in the selection of your next best friend.
If you see a breed/size you are interested in. Go to the shelter. Don't judge him or her by the way they act in the cage either. I know, I know so much of what I am telling you goes against what you have been doing. However think about this. How do you feel when you have been stuck in the house too long? About to rip someones head off right?! Well think about this.. You once had a home where you had a nice warm bed, a human to follow, kids to play with, a basket full of toys. Then suddenly you were dropped off at a place where you don't know anyone. You spend almost 100% of your time in a cage. I don't know about you but I would be pretty mad about that. What if you never had a home. You were running free, eating scraps out of trash cans. Now your in a cage.
I hope I have helped bring some light to the barking of shelter dogs and or the cowering of cats. See strangers can be scary and when everything you once knew changed. Well life becomes scary.
Please give them a chance. Taken a look out of the cage. What can you do for them?!
Rescue Organizations I photograph at include: ~Toledo Animals Shelter ~Planned Pethood ~Humane Society of Seneca County ~4 Paws Sake ~Ohio Great Dane Rescue ~Monroe County Humane Society ~Pit Crew ~Pet Bull Project ~Golden Retriever Rescue ~Paws and Whiskers
This is Jack! He barked at me.. Once out of his cage all he wanted to do was play with a ball. Yes he was BALL CRAZED!
This is Homer! Black dog barking in a cage. Yeah no thanks! Wait a minute... We get him out and he is one big smile. His family was moving to a warmer climate. :$ Yeah well more about Homer. He can sit, stay, and lay down. Oh and he loves car rides!!
CATS!! Ok so I know my cats at home don't care for strangers too much. So now lets put ourselves in their position. You are in a cage, no where to hide. People looking at you. What is a cat to do? Yes you guessed it cower in fear. So then all you see are those crazy cat eyes looking back at you. Do you want a good cat to call your own? Here is the trick!! Do what they want, only on their time. Love them, EARN IT. ;)
